Background - I live in Exeter and often walk between Heavitree and Paris Street. Often I wonder if the new student accommodation will be needed as education moves online. Over time there is discussion about this but the building never stops.
Today Guardian story on threat to HE outreach and support for students having to work at jobs / commute from home . Government funding required. No mention of technology to reduce costs / expand marketing.

Recently MIT posted a video on YouTube about open courseware and AI. Aims to support learning at degree level as well as “K to grey” . Stats show learning from home is a major part of existing activity. Outreach working ok based on subscriber numbers.
Previously #HashtagHigherEd conferences considered social media as outreach. EdTech can support learning from home. So there is scope to meet the concerns in the Guardian report. Conferences on the Digital University have wider scope. Online Learning Rankings have been discontinued.
