Update on visit to Exeter Campus yesterday #PlayPosium

Tomorrow the PlayPosium will take over the City. So getting ready I checked out the campus ahead of a talk by Prof Lisa Forbes. At the Communications building I found T3 Journal , Student Writing in Drama Issue 5. Emma Gibbon exploredhow "the world of magic and illusion has influenced the modern theatre scene". She includes Briar and Roses from 2023 with 250 augmented reality headsets for a live audience. Later one of the questions for Lisa Forbes was from Alistair Aitcheson. Coming back to the question later. He is a video games designer gradually moving into live performance. "My Date With Pierce Brosnan" has headsets that allow the audience to contribute to the dialogue. i don't understand enough about this but will know more later. There will be performances in Edinburgh August 16 -30.  What is interesting me is how drama relates to the ideas around play in the Playposium . This event is in a playful circus tent but in the grounds of a business school. Most...

Inspired by YouTube - Soul Music and Curation

copied from YouTube inspiration  Strategy Session: Why Soulful Playlists Beat The 2026 YouTube Discovery Algorithms We disrupt the cold, predictive logic of 2026 discovery algorithms by leaning into the unquantifiable warmth of human-curated soul. We prioritize the grit of R&B and lo-fi textures over sterile data points, proving that organic community resonance and grassroots art projects still outpace automated metrics in building authentic digital legacies. Develop idea Save idea Why this could fit your channel 1 Human-Centric Counter-Programming This idea perfectly bridges your technical interest in Rougemont Global Broadcasting strategy with the lo-fi, grassroots aesthetic seen in your Exeter walks and Isca Obscura series. It positions your channel as a necessary human filter in an era of sterile, automated 2026 discovery logic. 2 Authentic Musical Authority Leveraging your history with Mama Stones House Band and soulful curation, this topic allows you to prove that R&B...

Draft tweets, based on Guardian story about UUK

Background - I live in Exeter and often walk between Heavitree and Paris Street. Often I wonder if the new student accommodation will be needed as education moves online. Over time there is discussion about this but the building never stops. Today Guardian story on threat to HE outreach and support for students having to work at jobs / commute from home . Government funding required. No mention of technology to reduce costs / expand marketing. Universities UK Press Release not emphasising outreach / student support. Survey shows interest in “digital transformation” but not much detail. More found through google AI. My guess is that the online discussion post lockdown has been mostly sidelined. The campus is back to “normal”. The Guardian is reluctant to consider a scene after print so ignores EdTech. Comment welcome, this may be unfair. Recently MIT posted a video on YouTube about open courseware and AI. Aims to support learning at degree level as well as “K to grey” . Stats show...

Example from YouTube / source of "Bot" take

Image
I have now uploaded a clip from BBC World Service to YouTube. The section is complete and the bit about blocking or charging Bots is towards the end.

Introducing a new blog , hello bots

This is a continuation of an earlier blog "Hello Spiders". This comes from long ago, not sure spiders are well known at this time. There is a new era post AI . Content can vanish without recognition or income. So are bots as welcome as spiders. Perhaps, but there may be a cost. I can start with recycling earlier material and linking to others and copying from AI etc. But there may be a paywall version of appeals for funding if a lot of work is required. I have also started a new blog for posts about Brexit and now Trump. This includes a post with a link to YouTube video , on my channel but copied from Sky News. YouTube has many features of social media but I find the posts of text and still photos do not get much interest. Maybe the blog format will work better. John Naughton in the Observer recently claimed that social media is in decline but i am not sure about this. Do you include YouTube ? we do not know how AI will turn out. There may be ways to influence the scope of...
